EARLY CHILDHOOD

AABDS’s Early Childhood Approach (ECA) is about supporting children and families to have the best possible start in life.
The NDIS early childhood approach supports children younger than 9 years with developmental concerns, developmental delay or disability. Depending on a child’s age and circumstances, support may include early connections to community and mainstream services, practical information, early supports, or assistance to apply for the NDIS. Not every child needs to become an NDIS participant to receive help and connections.
At AABDS, our early childhood supports focus on helping children to:
-
build their skills and capabilities
-
participate in everyday activities and routines
-
develop meaningful relationships
-
be included in their family, education and community life
-
work towards outcomes that are important to them and their family.
Our approach recognises that children learn and develop through everyday experiences and relationships. We work in partnership with children, families and their support networks to build confidence, capability and opportunities for meaningful participation.
AABDS aligns its practice with the National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention and the NDIS Practice Standards – Early Childhood Supports supplementary module. These frameworks promote family-centred, inclusive, collaborative, capacity-building, evidence-informed and outcomes-focused practice.
Our Commitment
At AABDS, we believe early childhood supports should be, child-focused, family-centred, inclusive, collaborative, culturally responsive, evidence-informed, capacity-building, and outcome-focused.
Our goal is not simply to provide a service, but to work alongside children and families to build skills, confidence, relationships and opportunities that support meaningful participation in everyday life.
